Napoli - 1378 Words

Was Silvio the right choice to head the India operation? In my opinion, I do not think that was the right choice. Even though India’s growth potential was significant, there are several reasons why I think so. First of all, Exchange rates and unforeseen duties further frustrated market development efforts. When it comes to international business those risks always would be cause of challenge. For example Japanese lumber company in Canada decreased their sales from last year because of change of currency rate of Japanese yen and Canada dollar. Making the transferred sub-assemblies even more expensive was the fact that there were exchange rate fluctuations favoring Indian currencies. In the case study much is said about how Schindler s CEO was fascinated with the success of low-end, mass produced Swatch watches -- a 90 s phenomenon -- more than one General Manager of Manufacturing Operations strove to emulate this low-end production strategy. †¢ Schindler s manufacturing cost structures were compatible with customization, not commoditization. Hero and Leander by Peter Paul Reubens - 982 Words

During this semester’s course we have studied various styles of art throughout Europe, and what has intrigued me the most is Baroque art. Baroque, as we have studied it, is a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, in sculpture, and painting. Baroque style began in Rome, Italy in the 1600s and quickly spread throughout Europe. The Baroque style was endorsed by the Roman Catholic Church, in their response to the Protestant Reformation. The Church encouraged artists to create works of art that would connect their audience intellectually and emotionally with religious themes. For my final visual analysis I have chosen Hero and Leander, by Peter Paul Rubens (Figure 1). Rubens created this oil on canvas painting between 1604 and 1605 in Lombardy, Italy. Ruben’s painting features Leander, a youth of Abydos, who used to swim across the waters at night to Sestos on the opposite side to meet his lover Hero, a p riestess of Aphrodite. The painting measures 96 X 127 cm and is currently located in the Yale University Art Museum, in New Haven, Connecticut. (Early mythological paintings) From Hero and Leander we can see the influence that Michelangelo and Titian had on Rubens during his career, in particular, how the human body moves in extreme ways. Emil Kren and Daniel Marx, on the Web Gallery of Art, give a nice summary of the subject of Ruben’s painting. The subject of the painting is a legend according to which

Brand Value and Public Relations Capstone Project

Question: Discuss about the Brand Value and Public Relations Capstone Project. Answer: Introduction The manner in which trades have been working today, with every chance, they were facing a rough trade circumstance as well. The overturn also was applicable on the case confirming that every time an individual like there was any problem or long term issue, it always grants them with the chance of a manner in which they could work and progress their reputation. Presently, the manner in which the trade faces the disputes, it grants those with the exclusive chance when it comes to the manner in which the public relations were believed to be supervised. The dispute nevertheless was that individuals were facing a tough time having practicable conversation with the clients (Vomberg et al, 2015). Particularly after the time when disparity has landed trade in lot of issues being faced there has been a lack of monetary arrangement and insight of the clients as well as the need of building of reputation (Zhang et al, 2014). At the same time, there has been a augmented data at the removal of th e client and general public presently, within a fraction of seconds which people could determine in relation to the act of the trade and how it was performing from a long time period (Vomberg et al, 2015). The major message in relation to that was of the breakdown and fall down of the US economic system. What was done was that lots of presumed products and corporations have lost their brand worth in one night. What it has done was that it has offered a perfect chance for the individual who were working in the peoples responses section that they could perform their matter (Vomberg et al, 2015). So, in order to utilize their skill knowledge to solve the problems people have options that were obtainable by the organization currently (Zhang et al, 2014). By having a glance at the way in which trade was expected to be in action. In this report, the properties would be in the manner in which the public relations specialized people could have the power of the market, what were their regio ns of practice, and how the instructive skills of the public relations specialized people could alleviate the circumstances in an enhanced way (Vomberg et al, 2015). Issues Presently, the manner in which the trade have been conducted, the organizations were treated as a body organization. The goods that were obtainable by the corporations was not actually taken into the calculation, but there were certain other issues as well that may decide the accomplishment or the breakdown of the good (Bianchi et al, 2014). The manner in which the things were carried out presently, it could be observed that in spite of the fact that certain corporations have created a great good portfolio then also they were not truly able to maintain oneself for the future. This was due to the truth that the insights of the brand of the people which were used were marked for a single event and the injury would not be able to be mended after it (Zhang et al, 2014). After the oil spill, the instance of BP oil comes to mind, in spite of the information that a number of attempts were made by the people to maintain the price of the good, which people were not capable to recuperate from that problem (Bianchi et al, 2014). This was not the single instance (Vomberg et al, 2015). Soon after the accusations of the trade activities for Pepsi turn out to be bad, they had to do the enduring end crusade to guarantee that the worth of the god was not reduced (Bianchi et al, 2014). That elevated the query that why there was a example that the good of the worth turns out to be immaterial and the only thing that initiates to value was the manner in which they have continued the worth of their good (BoukisChristodoulides, 2015). The current research would grant a better suggestion in regard to the manner in which the mind of the clients was working, as only 25 % of the clients had confirmed that the good was the sole thing that was concerned, as a substitute it was the status of the company that cases (BoukisChristodoulides, 2015). In a manner, it could be stated that the wager for operating the trade has augmented with the span of time (BoukisChristodoulides, 2015). Trend of the Market prevailing in the present time From a number of factors that have modified the fact of the scenery of the public relations and the manner in which the brand worth was linked with it was that how the monetary recession has imposed the clients to observe at the manner adopted for doing monetary managing was being conducted in the corporation (Davcik et al, 2015). This was particularly the matter with the corporations which were not the private companies as they have monetary wagers for the corporation and they require being cautious in regard to the manner in which people were departing about their monetary treatment of the trade (BoukisChristodoulides, 2015). Experts of Public relations and depression At a certain age of time during which the PR specialized people have the privilege extent of thoughts and skill was during the period of the depression (Zhang et al, 2014). It grants them a chance for the manner by which they could extensively guarantee that the danger that was provided by the monetary push up could be utilized to enhance their subsistence which was their in the associations (Buil et al, 2013). This was the sole substance which could have assisted the organiations in the long run as well. What they could do was that they could employ in the practical actions that transform the insight of the individuals about them (BoukisChristodoulides, 2015). There were a number of cases when the corporations had the insight that there was a circumstance predictable that could transform their insight in the promotion (Zhang et al, 2014). And people have intended their acts as per the circumstance (Buil et al, 2013). The instance of Gambles and Procter was an supreme example when th e PR movement of their goods were taken that granted them a inhalation room of kinds in regard to the manner of managing of the circumstances was theoretical to occur (Davcik et al, 2015). The most usual object that could be observed throughout that span was that how the universal goods were created among the grounds of the depression (Davcik et al, 2015). So the significance of PR drive was amazing that was constantly required to be concerned (Buil et al, 2013). The significant object that was required to be observed at was that the good should have the monetary capital at their removal to guarantee that they could do the victorious PR actions and incorporate benefit of the financial recession in which the self-assurance of individuals on the goods of another was on the down step (Davcik et al, 2015). The single most important essential that one gets to observe for more or less all the public corporations presently was that the centre has augmented on the manner lucidity has to aug ment in the trade dealings (Buil et al, 2013). The requirement for trade to be unlock concerning of every aspect of its events was not restricted to the monetary coverage although it creates a main set of its reputation (Davcik et al, 2015). Also, there have been certain other elements that were required to be undertaken into consideration such as the manner their reimbursement work, how the share of funds was being conducted at the stage of the corporation and other similar issues (Buil et al, 2013). The occurrence has arrived at to a degree that there were companies and third person managers that concern of the status of the corporation and the manner they were hypothetical to do task (Buil et al, 2013). With the passing span, the third person corroboration was fetching a must have for all of the corporations that were the section of the business field (Vomberg et al, 2015). Mutual that with how much significant it was to make sure that the worth of the good of the society, the re putation of the society has attained significance presently (Buil et al, 2013). Impact of Media and the brand value of the corporation The client for other purposes might give numbers to the brand fairness of the group (HuangSarigoellue, 2014). There were a number of issues that existed in the brain of the standard client (HuangSarigoellue, 2014). For example, the manner in which the manufacturing relationships were being constructed, the manner in which the society was delighting the business was one of the facets. The security the protection of the members were also paced extremely throughout the route of the manner where the clients expressed their view (Zhang et al, 2014). From a number of objects one of them were paced rapidly was the contented matter of the ads (HuangSarigoellue, 2014). This was where the PR becomes tremendously significant (HuangSarigoellue, 2014). The corporations that were running in the business setup presently have to guarantee that they use the accurate sum on doing the correct communication transversely to the association (Urde et al, 2013). The included advertising conversation turns out to be significant due to that (HuangSarigoellue, 2014). The entire corporation must convey a sole communication. It way the media made it public, the monetary surveys, the media conversations and the ad all must guarantee that they were keeping the similar worth that they were saying in their previous communications (HuangSarigoellue, 2014). This was the cause that the media advertising and PR were forever measured to be quite secured (Urde et al, 2013). One of the facets which has been disregarded by the corporations but observed rather personally by the PR manager was to that kind of amateur media. Also, the publicity was carried out in relation to the general brand value of the corporation (HuangSarigll, 2014). The information that was established, it recognized that how the PR was believed to be containing crucial effect except the depression putting any impact on the general advertising actions of the company (Urde et al, 2013). The importance of journalism was another aspe ct that has to be reserved back in brains in regard to the policy of the company (HuangSarigll, 2014). Existing relation among Context Analytics and the Brand Value A research was carried out which seems to be at the perspective analytics and the association that subsists among the general worth of the brand and the manner in which the fame of media acts its role in the entire plan (Zhang et al, 2014). But it established a fact that the eminence of media financial records with reference to 27 % of the entire worth of the good of the company (HuangSarigll, 2014). The ads amounted for about 2 to 3 % of the entire worth of the goods of the body on the other hand (HuangSarigll, 2014). So, this depicts that occasionally, the corporation cascades into this entrap that there was not much of a transformation of the reputation by them, as an alternative they initiated to choose for the ad that seems to produce distant from certain supreme consequences for them in all the sections (HuangSarigoellue, 2014). The worth of the physically powerful monetary data could not be inexpensive, it was required to depict that if there was an attempt which was made by t he company to guarantee that they perk up their product worth but their investors were on the mistaken conclusion of the situation, then there was all the probability that they would not obtain the preferred conclusions in relation to the budding reputation, so sturdy investors were important for the company (HuangSarigll, 2014). The complete difficulty and the worth was another factor that was required to be concerned for. As a result, there were a number of constituents that must be observed after during the course of the manner by which the marketing plan was to be utilized (HuangSarigll, 2014). The participation of the client during the term of the construction was other factor which must be bear in mind. For example, in the goods of IT, there whole trademark and PR plan was bit diverse as evaluated to certain type of conformist goods that were dependent on hard ads (HuangSarigll, 2014). Plans for resolving the issues There has been a number of confrontations thus when it talks about the preserving the worth of the brand as well as ensuring that the solid PR plan was being implemented. In this part, presently, there would be an option whether the instructive skill could grant certain answers to the issues that were connected with the PR and the whole worth of the good. Not only it would be observed that the constituents that could assist the caring of the plan of public relations, it would also provide a thought in regard to the manner of strategic imminent which could be established into the trade (Urde et al, 2013). Below certain plans were mentioned that could be utilized in relation of PR that might assist the trade name of a good (Luo et al, 2013). Public Relations as a medium of ensuring loyalty What could be observed was that the whole devotion of client and the other such problems cooperate a important authority in regard to the manner of whole plan of the trade which was created (Pai et al, 2015). By observing personally at the manner of preservation of the devotion of the client could be concerned of, one of the most significant thing was to ensure that the good was sturdy (Luo et al, 2013). Therefore, the goods of such a nature that could bear itself in the market. If the good was of imperfect, not any sum of PR plan or proposals would secure the brand. Also, it also bears in mind that there were a number of media that they have at their removal so that optimistic vibe would be produced about the trade (SeveriLing, 2013). There were therefore a number of ways by which the powers could be established (Luo et al, 2013). Brand Equity (BE) The idea that could develop immensely by serving trade to ensure that people could have a correct brand worth which was brand impartiality (Urde et al, 2013). It was the worth regarding the natural life rivulet of the brought goods that were leap to be created on behalf of the client in the provided span (Luo et al, 2013). If the sturdy fairness of goods was created by the trade, it was very risky for the participants to extricate that trade starting the beginning (Pai et al, 2015). It could also make a sagacity of self-assurance between the shareholders that the corporation has attained its home in authority (Luo et al, 2013). When the impartiality of the good was burly, it turns out to be simpler to complete and sketch the PR Plan (Pai et al, 2015). This was conducted by utilizing the BE to exhibit the power that the corporation has over its clients. The other constituents that assists was that it makes a enduring consciousness on the brain of client, and they were more probable to amenities and incorporate to relation with the trade (Pai et al, 2015). Presently, it has been renowned that the idea of the fairness of goods was connected with the larger corporations, and in receipt of that kind of standing would not be occurred during the night (Pai et al, 2015). As a result, there must be lucidity of aim on the section of the company that people were going to create a trade name that has BE between individuals. This was the element of the enduring planned thoughts of the corporation. As the trade name was disappearing to develop, the individuals would discover it to be significant to narrate with the trade name and correlate all the optimistic opinions that they have with the good (Pai et al, 2015). Public Relations (PR) used a medium of making reputation of a trade This was the plan that was attractive much overturning to what was being conversed above. Occasionally there were happenings that might injure the prediction of the corporation, and then they might drop their brand equity for the client, if that was the matter, then PR plan could be utilized to recuperate the self-assurance of the client (SeveriLing, 2013). This was pertinent on the trade that was presently preliminary to create a brand for the people. What must be conducted was that the encouraging conversation in relation to the good which must be resistant into the mind of the individuals. Whatsoever the unconstructive episode would be, it was probable to be in the cognizant of the individuals. But what could be conducted was that the impact of that unenthusiastic memorandum could be thinned to a degree so that the trade name of the corporation at least advances (SeveriLing, 2013). For example, BP oil has to a level reinstated in its ability in the advertise by reinforced the opti mistic conversation about them (SeveriLing, 2013). Conclusion In present day, as the instrument of conducting the trade has transformed, the PRs have attained a number of significance. It was a normal happening that the corporations face ebb and stream in the span of the implementation of the trade, but currently, a minor mistake might make it mislay its trade name worth (SeveriLing, 2013). This was in particular the matter in the eras when the monetary circumstance was distant from model. The trade requires ensuring in that manner that they could match the BE in future times (SeveriLing, 2013). There was a modification in the client act as well, no longer was the good going to be sufficient to maintain the brand worth of the corporation, as an alternative it was the kind of conversation that was conversed by the trade concerning its goods (SeveriLing, 2013). One of the major facets of ensuring that they attain their PR plan privilege was that the idea of the BE must be bear in brain. The optimistic strengthening of the communication was requir ed to be conducted repeatedly (SeveriLing, 2013). The incorporated advertising conversation also assists out a number in that concern. Theory of Traditional Chinese Social Structure Essay Example

Theory of Traditional Chinese Social Structure Essay Differential mode and relationship mode Professor Fees Differential Mode, initially developed from the biological differential. But because traditional Chinese groups have a strong sense of identity of blood, causing the groups naturally transformed into patterns of social relations between. 1. Differential Mode Professor Fee, with the perspective from the social relations of traditional Chinese social structure, and thus invented Differential Mode. He believes that the social structure of traditional Chinese is like a stone thrown into the water launch waves of irises. Every man is his introduction to the social impact of the center of the circle. By pushing the circle and the wave of the The contact took place. the tightness of contact between people, but also with the two In this corrugated circle to determine the distance In the distance. That Is, between a person and Relationships of others, like the ripples of water as to themselves as the center, introduced to a circle, the more push farther and also push more thinner. @ Proof. Fee the traditional Chinese differential pattern with the West group pattern were compared, and further lardier the structure of traditional China. Groups there is a certain limit, and who is the group where people, who are groups of people outside, not vague, we must distinguish. The people In the group a group, the relationship between the groups Is the same, if the same group or class in the respective groups, it is first required. Pattern in this group, the members are equal, so there is no similar blood the natural contact and poor, everyone is talking about the rights and obligations. If a member or less than their rights, or not doing the minimum obligations, are likely to leave the group. They are not human In the hot and cold, but of rights. In Western society Is the right fight, and It Is climbing In our relationship, about friendship. @ compared with the differential pattern, the pattern of functional groups relatively simple. For example, the Western family will be in business matters very little, the main function is to birth children. Children in this group is supporting, they grew up and became to leave the group. In their political, economic, religious and other groups to undertake other functions, not In the family since the beginning. And family home In China law, may owe respect and affection between couples, women with three criteria Trot ten Tour vulture, parents Ana centre pay attention to responsibility obedience. ($) even getting married adult children had to live away from their parents do not give board and lodging is very common. Of course, this analysis is Professor Fee Oxidation, Chinas society in terms of the main structure, not to say that Chinas rural society there is no group. Similarly, in western modern society, the same pattern of differential exists, but relatively important nothing more. In fact, these two patterns of the basic form of social structure , can be capable of distinguishing between the concept, in fact on the often coexist, but each side can see the winning nothing more. The reason to conduct such a distinction and emphasis, because this distinction can i ndeed help us to get a lot of social structure, a more realistic understanding of the various exemptions confusion. 2. Differential pattern: from the blood into the relationship between patterns of differential Between people to rank the differential social relations are the main features of the tatter, like the stone drowned generated ripples continue to spread outward circle. So, in real life, this intimacy between people is how far and near, the formation of social relations, or the interaction between the decision to rank the relationship that is based on what? Analysis from the perspective of Professor Fee Oxidation, based originally came from the blood relationship between people, blood differential. The difference between the sequence pattern derived from the biological nature of human kinship structures, used in the formation of social interaction between people u to the structure of social relations, is based on the blood by differential patterns of social relations. Difference from the blood into the pattern of social relations, not only is a qualitative change, but also a quantity (range) of the shrinking. Blood is the natural connection between people, to give each person a role can not change the blood. And, to rank the blood relationship is also very obvious, easy to distinguish. Such as relies instead between his father, their identity is fixed and can not be changed. Blood relationship between the two most pro recently. In comparison, relies instead ND uncles (fathers brother) relationship will have to sparse point further. This affinity for the distinct blood differential pattern of social relations between people provides an excellent basis. Also, because of this traditional Chinese kinship-based groups (clans) have a high degree of identity, kinship and thus formed the basis differential pattern of traditional Chinese social structure has become the main features. Biological significance and blood differential to push thousands of people, may have been introduced to include the infinite people, past, present, and future of the people. @ and China attaches great importance to the traditional blood groups ( clan), so that even happen due to human factors, blood ties broken, so that blood differential narrowed to a range of groups including the number of people are still considerable. In contrast, the formation of social relations between people in social interaction, and the scope of interaction, after all, is limited, therefore, the scope of social relations between people than the scope of the relationship between blood differential is much smaller . In other words, blood differential of the corrugated ricer Is greater than ten social relations AT ten corrugated circle. Sequence of blood corrugated circle, the circle formed by members of the group are essentially long-term and widespread traditional Chinese clan. Within the clan and relies instead members have social interaction constitute their own social relations as the center of the corrugated circle. Two corrugated circle Although there are groups within the clan, but the number of the former is obviously greater than the latter. Differential patterns of community circle Differential pattern of corrugated circle in , relies instead on in the center of the ins, relies instead and the other people in the circle of social relations depends on their affinity with the relies instead the distance. From relies instead on the more recent, more intimate relationship. This is the difference between the traditional sequence pattern revealed by the basic characteristics of social relations in China. Further analysis showed that this basic structure, there is still a community circle, it is still using the differential pattern of blood ties to further divided into inner and outer ring that the two most obvious affinities, Its purpose is to further consolidate ND strengthen the important social relations, to further clarify the criteria for social interaction. This is everyone individual capacity-limited results. 1 . Difference sequence pattern exists sector loop Corrugated circle shape of the difference sequence pattern, relies instead and the circle to the other person is sparse by the pro-social relationships, from relies instead on more pro-closer, the more far more sparse. Well, this closeness in everyday life is how to embody it? Apart from blood relations, but also influenced by what? Based on research by Professor Fee Oxidation, Relationships of daily life is not he embodiment of a balanced, progressive state, but have different emphases. This reflects the way of the main factors, in addition to blood, as well as the balance of rights and obligations. Social relations is an important social capital, therefore, for everyone, always hope and expand their social relations as much as possible the corrugated circle. Corrugated circle of the expansion, which means relies instead on acquired rights increases, while their obligations have increased. Social relationships is to rely on frequent interaction can be obtained, and each persons mime, energy, capacity is limited. As Professor Fee said, social relations, rights and obligations must be fairly balanced, this balance can be very long in time, but if one- sided, too much social relations will, unless coupled with coercive power, or will the broken. One way to prevent the break in reducing bear on social relations. Thus, the real world, people on the one hand to expand their social relations as much as possible the corrugated circle and the other terms and subject to their own time, energy, ability, etc. Had to corrugated circle inside a small and select the corrugated circle. In this small ripples circle, because of relies instead on a sufficient time, energy, ability, and therefore frequent interaction with other members, emotional intimacy, the right for each other big, too heavy obligations. In this small ripples circle, the interaction is small, the right to obtain a small, light obligations. This small ripples circle in the original large ripple ring internal, naturally formed a dividing lin e, a community circle. In order to relies instead as ten center to ten regally AT ten poor Dye ten pro-sequence pattern, ten community ricer pattern of the entire differential is further divided into Pro and Shush two parts, but also the whole pattern of differential into the inner and outer. 2. Demarcated boundary circle For blood groups in terms of traditional China, a differential pattern of corrugated circle is a clan. Within the group in this clan, there is a small inner circle family. Inner circle (family) relationship between the members, feelings of intimacy. Frequent interaction between members only, and are active cooperation and mutual assistance. Each member and their families at weddings and other events, the other embers must give money to send things (gifts), to show Ghee or mast, which is to fulfill it. Of course, there are affinities between members, fulfill their obligations when there are gifts of the thickness. They are outside with the family (outer ring) of the members are non-family relationships, feelings in general. The interaction between members is not only less negative and may contain contradictions and conflicts. So when the outer ring members and their families held funerals and other activities, members do not need money to send inner objects (their obligations). This preference sequence pattern inner ring is a traditional division of standards unique to Chinas five system. Five system rich in content, but also very complex (including blood, marriage, etc. ), here it specifically refers to Five blood, from relies instead proceed within the Five blood relatives (including spouse) (see Figure . The figure that is the traditional pattern of rural differential (clan) in the inner circle (family), the industry circle is clear: to relies instead as the center, extending to five generations, that the high grandparents down to the great-great-grandson and gather in law, peer extended to the family of siblings and spouses. In the (inner) within the members were relies instead relatives, while non-relatives outside the scope of that Book of Rites, mass communications, so-called VI relatives dried ca rry on. For example: a family of brothers and sisters and spouses, relies instead relatives, because they are within the blood in the Five Dynasties. But their children and relies instead is a non-kinship, blood relationship as more than five generations; again from siblings and spouses and relies instead is kinship, and is thin four generations of blood relations, therefore, their children and relies instead was still within the Five Dynasties, and therefore relationship. Circle cultural existence sector Differential Mode and industry circles began in differential blood, blood groups used in social relations, a thousand years, the main features of Chinese social structure. Also, because they are long-term presence in the traditional Chinese and eventually evolved into a concept of culture, and extensive penetration into the various non- blood of social groups, to be blood is one of the outstanding performance. It is this ultra penetration, making the differential pattern and industry circles from the blood can be based on a wide range of groups exist in unrelated, there is in non- traditional Chinese social structure. 1 . Community circle: from the blood groups blood groups to non-understanding of traditional essence order structure AT ten Downward Ana Walton ten circle, not only helps to know and understand Chinas past, but the study of Chinas future social structure and relationships more meaningful. This is because: in China by the traditional to modern in the transition process, in the differential blood-based tatter of gradual decline, we are very clear to see: the traditional Chinese blood differential, blood concept has been ingrained in peoples minds, so that no blood ties, people are also invariably mock out of blood contact, and accordingly the formation of social relations, distinguish between near and far. Between the father and son get along with mentoring, college roommate called each other by date of birth brother or sister, etc. That is, this simulation of the concrete embodiment. Using this to be blood method, from own home, from home to the country, from the country to the world, is a pathway. This shows that blood levels of the differential pattern in China has risen to the level of the difference between the concept of sequence pattern, forming a generally recognized by people of culture. That is, the blood group-based differential pattern has evolved into a con cept of culture, and the widespread nature of non-blood groups, especially those among the large number of informal groups. The concept of culture has been relatively independent, not only will not end with the weakening of traditional kinship groups, which dilute the contrary, in the future for a long period of time, it also its vitality and intention to maintain the social structure in China The differential pattern. 2. Demarcation of the cultural circle By cultural circle is relative to the blood in the differential in terms of the boundary circle is defined as the difference between the nature of non-blood groups in the sector sequence pattern circle. Order it in bad blood circle sector is significantly different: the boundary of blood in the differential blood circle in full compliance with the degree of kinship, position clear, that is relative (family members) and non- family (clan members) of the boundary; The location of the cultural circle is very legible and not bound by blood relationship, completely based on how much personal time, energy, strength and capacity size. For example, traditional social structure in the neighborhood is the status of each one do his own center, draw a circle around. A happy event to your wine, have a baby to send red eggs, a funeral undertakers to help out, a coffin Neighborhood size range by a central forces have determined the thickness. Influential people throughout the neighborhood can Village, a poor family neighborhood Just next to the two or three. Here called the ricer , range that is, cultural circles, is to be blood, Order Structure of the boundary circle. Left the blood relationship between the natural, cultural circles rely mainly on the interests, feelings, beliefs and so maintained. First, the community blood differential ring compared to the interest of maintaining the strength of a larger, overall, should be more than emotion. In other words, to be blood groups and individuals in the industry circle to maximize the rights and obligations of mostly minimization principle. Secondly, it should be and blood differential, as the power till comes from maintaining emotional, especially those between the original edge of the background with industry between groups, such as students circle, circle comrades, colleagues rings. Finally, with the accelerating process of cultural diversity, people AT Talent Dye ten same group Torment gradually Increased, ten Deterrence between the sequence of its internal ring pattern and less influenced by industry interests and the emotional impact, more by maintaining the level of faith. Cultural circle, determine the inner person and outer man and the main criteria or the standard differential blood, Just as watching a personal and their families in life (birth), the old (old birthday ), disease, death, marriage (wedding), and building, promotion and other big activities interact with other people. If you encounter such an event, always give money to send things to each other, it is the inner man, or is the outer ring of people. Especially in the many informal groups, such a standard is most clear. 3. Inner ring: difference sequence pattern of the most influential factors In addition to the whole Do not closeness function, the differential mode of existence of community circle also shows that: inner ring is a differential pattern in the core part of the pattern on the differential impact of the giant. And, in many formal social groups, the inner ring is often invisible to form small groups of one, small group, about the impact of even the normal operation of formal organizations. Differential pattern of circles and the location of the boundary determined by the boundary circle carved out of the inner and outer rings, are on the society and its development in terms of the general situation. When the differential pattern of abnormal external environment changes, even the blood differential will change the boundary circle.

In a great Mans House essays

In a great Man's House essays In Ruth Prawer Jhabvalas In a Great Mans House the story happens in India where the social, religious and cultural situation is very different from what we have in our western society. The oppression of the Indian women, poverty and social casts are issues that are still very present in India. But, although the story take place in a setting very different from ours, it portrays basic features of the human personality which most people consider universal. The author describes in a brilliant and insightful manner the complex net of human relationships. She show to us the balance between power and powerlessness through Hamidas marriage with Khan Sahib. She also tell to us about the perception of ones self and the experience of motherhood. Hamida is in a situation of constant shifts between power and powerlessness. This frail balance depends on the reference fame she is in; she is powerful among her family but powerless at home. This power she has among her family comes to her because she is Khan Shibs wife. In addition to being the wealthiest member of her family she is the one with the highest social status. On the other hand, when she is at home she is powerless because Khan Sahib is in control. But what are the reasons that justify this power difference between Hamida and her husband? First of all it is Khan Sahib who controls the wallet, he is the one making the money and even though he is generous and allows his wife some freedom in the use of his riches, Hamida still has to ask his permission which makes her dependent of him and gives him a firm clasp of the power in the relation. Another factor that influences the power struggle in the marriage is prestige. Khan Sahib is a talented and well known signer, he is respected and admired by all especially the men in Hamidas family who are also artists but not as accomplished as him. By contrast Hamida is a mere housewife an occ...

The Shifting Heart (Drama Play) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

The Shifting Heart (Drama Play) - Essay Example Racism is not just evident in terms of different races but among the rights being provided to men and women further resulting in other conflicts which may damage social organization of institutions. These can be the castes issues, status consciousness, corruption in order to provide the best to ineligible, power conflict etc. This paper aims to discuss different societal problems in the society by considering The Shifting Heart as the base source for analysis. Furthermore, the paper will also constitute different examples of racism, gender discrimination and social conflicts with the aid of different characters of the story. Despite increasing the economic surplus of modern states, it is an evident fact that even the modern countries or developed countries of the world are noting increased number of social conflicts. It should be noted that conflicts arise when there is a difference in approach of associating in a community. Considering the case of Australian society, the play The Sh ifting Heart has been written to represent the social differences and aspects of social disorganization in Australian society. The playwright has noted a number of societal issues such as gender discrimination, racial discrimination etc. as the root cause of social disorganization in the society (Benyon). The gender discrimination is quiet evident in the play as the stage setting shows three families which are in war with each other because of being racially different. It can be noted that the families have shown a great deal of gender discrimination. The Italian family or Bianchi family shows hatred against the neighboring family of Fowler. This hatred shows a contempt or in other words gender discrimination that the Bianchi family does not allow the women of the Fowler family to be treated with any respect. However, this is different in terms of bianchi’s own family that the women in Italian family are given much respect along with communicating with them in a very positive and polite manner (Benyon). Racial Discrimination With the help of evaluation of the stage setting, it can also be noted that the families at war with each other have totally outlawed each other in terms of actions. It can be noted by the analysis of stage setting that the walls between the families include barbed wire. The barbed wire can also be noted as a way of disintegrations of association among the members of the society. Despite being different from each in terms of races, both the families’ represent a similar society or a community. This is exemplified by Lukie and Clarry in Stage III. Lukie and Clarry exchange harsh words at their first acquaintance. While Clarry says that he likes nothing about Lukie (Beynon, 93), Clarry sarcastically tells Lukie he, â€Å"†¦Must be feeling as if he’s on top of the world† Clarry’s bellicose nature is further exposed when he, upon learning that Lukie had apprehended some suspects in relation to Ginoâ€⠄¢s beating, asks Lukie if he is after some promotion (Beynon, 97). It is clear that with this state of affairs characterizing interpersonal relationships among people of different races, social cohesion remains nearly unachievable (Benyon). Class consciousness is another issue that can arise if there is racial discrimination among two parties of the society. This is evident in the case of both the families at w

Training and Mentoring Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Training and Mentoring - Essay Example They should be provided with all the information they need to execute those jobs (Anonymous, 1998). Thus it is inevitable that an organization welcomes and seeks out the value-added benefits resulting from training. According to Rosner, (1999) "training can be a great investment and training can be a waste of money." Of course, training can prove a waste of money if it does not deliver the goods. The key is to recognize the problems attributing to deficiencies in training and then assure that the correct training is imparted (Gupta 1999). Without the correct training, employees can be the organization's major liability. But if they are trained well, they can become an asset (Bartram and Gibson, 2000). Rosner (1999, p.43) states, "The most effective programs train workers in new behaviors and then train managers to support employees as they apply learning daily". Thus, if the training imparted has to be counted, then it should match directly to the requirements of the organization and people in it. One device that can be used is to accomplish this in the 'Training Needs Assessment.' The element of training that is chosen as mentoring which got its name after Mentor, Odysseus' family's sage counsellor in Greek mythology, has got increasing notice in recent years. A mentor is one who has accomplished career success and counsels and guides another for the purpose of helping him/her attain like success. An organization should always have research supervisors who can be mentors; they have the liability to discuss with and counsel a trainee on vistas of his/her work and professional development. The trainee can also find additional mentors informally or the organization may designate them. They are very significant in the complete experience of the trainee and may add to research output as well. In addition to determining what the employees have to learn, and providing them with mentors, the broad range of training delivery methods these days calls for the determination of the best learning method for the employees. Some of the general delivery methods are Instructor-Led Classroom training, Computer Based Training, Web Based Training, One-on-One, and Self-Study Guides. 2. How will these concepts impact you personally and professionally The concepts of training methods given in the passage if applied will enable an employee to be self disciplined and will inspire him to become motivated. The proposed training method will boost the overall personality of the employee. Awareness accrued from the practical training and experimentation as to what to do when and where will increase the self confidence of the employee and will enhance his or her potentiality in managing different situations in the personal life as well as professional environment. The conceptual training if imparted in proper order will increase the self esteem and morale of the employee. Also, it will amplify his professional output and will standardize the interaction process between the customer and himself or with the management. The training mode will become instrumental to create a new outlook in the employee to have harmonious approach in the workplace. The recognition of one's talent throughout the training will satisfy his ego which will make hi m productive. Moreover, it will bring in proper awareness to the latest technologies and information systems. It will also endorse an urge in building up new strategies to bring in

ZOO Observations Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

ZOO Observations - Assignment Example It has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years in its natural habitat and more than 20 years when in a controlled environment, for instance, in a zoo. I observed that the patas monkey is a quite animal and one with a great appetite. On its feeding habits, I observed that the monkey ate gluttonously - it fills its cheeks with food. It uses its fingers to feed itself. As a result of its quick feeding habits, the feeding time was very little - 3 minutes that is about 15 percent of the observation time. I also found the Patas monkey to be quite active. After eating, the monkey seemed excited wearing a playful face. It jumped as if it was dancing every often food went its way. I assumed its jumping was a way of soliciting for more food. The jumping was carried out for about a minute or less, that is, about 5 percent of the observation time. It was further observed that the Patas monkey walked on its fingers. I also noted that the monkey had a nice way of resting – it leaned back and put up it s feet. It spent about 5 minutes in this position of relaxing – that is approximately 25 percent of the total time of observation. In the course of resting, I am not sure whether the monkey went to sleep because there are moments when it stayed still. After the sleep and relaxing, the monkey engaged in grooming and being groomed by other monkeys for some time – this was approximately 5 minutes (about 25 percent of the time). The patas monkey also engaged in what seemed like warm up exercises running up and down. I noted that it had an admirably great speed when it was being chased or chased other monkeys. The time spent in running up and down was about 30 percent of the observation time. Bornean orangutan The scientific name for Bornean orangutan is pongo pygmaeus. I found this ape to be bored and much of the observation time was spent not doing much. It took almost fifty percent of the observation time resting. In its resting position, the ape sat upright on the groun d with its hands touching the ground. During my observation time the ape did sleep for roughly two to three minutes – that was about 15 percent of the observation time. When sleeping the ape lay on its back and stretched out its legs and hands. The ape did not seem to be interested in eating anything though it could reluctantly bite once or twice some fruits I threw to it. The ape did walk at some time using its four limbs – the walking style is what we described as terrestrial quadrupedalism in class. The ape did not seem to be in hurry when walking and I guess even if it tried to run it could not or at least it could not run very fast. Unlike the patas monkey which could ran very fast thus can easily evade being caught by its predators, the Bornean orangutan did not seem like one that could be easily intimidated by predators. In the course of the observation, I neither noted any facial expression by the orangutan nor any vocal expressions. The best way to describe th e ape from the observations I made is that it was a solitary animal which did not express its feelings easily and one that seemed to be bored with its environment. It spent a good percentage of the observation time sitting down and strolling around. I must note it was not very interesting observing the Bornean orangutan especially after having a great time with a proactive patas monkey. Western lowland Gorilla The scientific name for the western lowland Gorilla is Gorilla gorilla gorilla. It was interesting watching this animal. It was quite active during the observation time. I also noted that it easily moved about. With the exception of the times when the gorilla sat down for about five minutes, I really did not see it resting. When it was sat, it was not exactly still but went

Operating Systems Course: Reflection Essay

Operating Systems Course: Reflection Essay There are a lot of new concepts about Telecommunications and Networking that I’ve learned in depth in this course. It is one of the very interesting courses that I have done so far in IT. I feel it is worth doing this course online as there is a chance to learn so many concepts through our assignments. Wire shark labs were very interesting and we have gained practical knowledge on how networking works in real scenarios. There are so many topics that I felt interesting throughout the course, but there is this topic ‘Modes of Network Operation’ which was the discussion topic in the 6th week that left an ‘aha’ moment. In Infrastructure mode of Network operation, communications occur between a set of Wireless Adapter equipped computers and also between a wired networks by going through a Wireless Access Point (AP). Infrastructurerefers to switches, routers, firewalls, and access points (Aps). Access Points are responsible for handling traffic between wireless networks and also wired networks. There is no Peer to Peer communication in this mode. A wireless network in infrastructure mode which is also connected to wired network is called as BSS (Basic service set).A set of two or more service sets is called Extended Service Set (ESS). The BSSID is a 48-bit number of the same format as a MAC address. This field uniquely identifies each BSS. The value of this field is the MAC address of the AP. Advantages of Infrastructure mode: Wide areas are covered by utilizing the high power of an access point in Infrastructure mode which is the advantage. The learning curve will be less for knowing wireless strengths and weaknesses with Infrastructure Mode. Number of clients can be supported in this mode of operation as additional access points can be added to WLAN to increase the reach of the infrastructure and support any number of wireless clients. Infrastructure mode networks offer the advantage of scalability, centralized security management and improved reach. Disadvantages: The disadvantage associated with infrastructure wireless network is additional cost to purchase AP hardware. ADHOC Mode:  In this mode, each station is a peer to the other stations and communicates directly with other stations within the network. No Access points are required. Advantages: Because Ad Hoc Mode does not require an access point, its easier to set up, especially in a small or temporary network. Disadvantages: In Ad Hoc Mode connections are limited, for example between two laptops, to the power available in the laptops. Because the network layout (thenetwork topology) in Ad Hoc Mode changes regularly, system resources are taken just to maintain connectivity. In an Ad Hoc network with many computers, the amount of interference for all computers will go up, since each is trying to use the same frequency channel. In Ad Hoc Mode, chains of computers will connect to pass your data, if your computer is not directly in range. On the other hand, you do not have control over the path your data takes. The automatic configuration routines may send your data through several computers, causing significant network delays. Conclusion Based on the above various mode of operation both offer advantages and as well as disadvantages. Based on the necessity one many opt for Ad hoc mode where set up is easy and no access points are required whereas Infrastructure mode is suited well for wireless networks as it supports any number of clients and offers advantages such as scalability, security and improved approach. There are a lot of concepts of Operating Systems that are learnt in depth from the course Operating Systems, it being one of the most important courses to be known to end up in software industry. However, I feel, and have always felt that it’s important to understand where we came from and how we landed up here, to be able to understand where we are going. The technology on which the operating systems run on and the mechanics of OS have progressed more than that could have been imagined in the last 30 years. By understanding how that progress was made, we can apply it and make equal progress in the future too. There are so many interesting topics in the discussions and journal entries throughout the course, but the first discussion on â€Å"Microsoft Windows 8: One Size Fits All?† remained as my favorite topic. It being the first discussion topic, also made me feel how interesting the entire Operating systems course would be. This topic grabbed my attention all of a sudden as I have been using Operating systems mostly Microsoft Windows from so many years without even knowing what exactly is happening behind it. The pros and cons of Windows 8 are summed from the â€Å"One size fits all† discussion. This made me think of the practical application of an OS by comparing with the features of other OS. I felt it’s not possible to develop single OS which can be efficient on tablets and PCs and that was the first time I had to disagree/not satisfied with Microsoft’s invention. Microsoft has been ruling the OS platforms. Windows 8 has drastic changes in platform and user interface of the operating systems. It had a smartphone before the Apple iPhone revolution came along, and it was pushing tablet PCs before the Apple iPad made it cool. But, as long as Microsoft’s history with mobile devices is, so is its stubborn desire to make everything about its Windows OS. Nowadays we cannot even imagine the world without computer as they are a part of everyday life now. But many of us do not care about what is actually happening when we use a system. Though I had little knowledge about operating systems earlier, now even though I don’t know everything I’m sure that I have learnt a lot about the functioning of an operating system, many types of management techniques in various operating systems, scheduling algorithms, and Protection and Security mechanisms in OS. An Operating system is a program that manages computers hardware and knowledge about operating system is necessary to start a career in software industry. Operating system provides a basis for application programs and acts as an intermediary between users and computer hardware and optimizes the utilization of hardware. It must exist in order for other programs to run. I would definitely continue my career as a software developer after completion of Masters in IT as I have been a software developer earlier. As a developer I would be developing software applications and having in depth knowledge of Operating systems is always necessary. An Operating system provides a software platform on which other application programs can run. So in some scenario’s like asynchronous function calls in the program written, I would definitely understand the execution of program much better having knowledge of how operating system works. I am pretty sure next time when I buy a laptop or an electronic device, I would not be lost with technical specifications. Indeed I would be more interesting to know the features and discuss the specifications confidently. Finally, I would say learning about the operating system will help every IT professional in their career.

Destiny, Fate and Free Will in Homers Odyssey - Odysseus’s Fulfills Hi

Odysseus’s Fulfills his Destiny in The Odyssey During Odysseus’s journey in The Odyssey, his own guile, the gods’ obstacles and their assistance for him affected his destiny. Odysseus uses his crafty sense of trickery and guile to get out of situations, which allow him to reach his destiny of returning home. Many times in The Odyssey the gods who dislike Odysseus set obstacles to try to stop him from returning home. However, there are gods who favor him and give him assistance to reach his homeland of Ithaca. Odysseus found himself in some dangerous situations during his journey but he was clever enough to think of ways to escape them. For example, when he encountered Polyphemus, Odysseus tricked him when he told the Cyclops his name was "Noman." After Polyphemus believed him and was stabbed in the eye, not knowing any better called out to his friends, "Noman is murdering me by craft. Force there is none" (87). Odysseus’ power over his enemy is once again confirmed by his wit more than by physical force. Although this sense of guile is at his enemy’s expense, there exists a touch of dramatic irony that helps the reader to take part in knowing something that Odysseus’ enemy doesn’t know. To get his way with Calypso, Odysseus flatters her to persuade her to free him from captivity. Odysseus sweet-talks Calypso and then states his destiny when he says, "Powerful goddess, do not be wroth at what I say. Full well I know that heedful Penelope, compared with you, is poor to look upon in height and beauty; for she is human, but you are an immortal, young forever. Yet even so, I wish-yes, every day I long-to travel home and see my day of coming" (49). Odysseus’ day of coming stands for hi... ...other of this Scylla, who bore her a bane to humankind; she will restrain her from a second onset" (116). Odysseus has to stop thinking that fighting always works. It is best to run and take the easy and safe way out when he is fighting a more powerful being than himself. Odysseus’ own guile, the gods’ obstacles, and their assistance for him are all factors that affected his fate during his journey. His guile to make difficult situations seem simple became very handy in escaping the dangerous times and allowed him to move further in his odyssey. The gods who dislike him sent storms or traps in their attempts to cease and stop Odysseus’ journey home. The gods who approve of Odysseus’ return home, for instance Athena, Hermes, and Circe, assisted him in many ways to ease his way home to his home in Ithaca and to fulfill his destiny.

In Discipline and Punish, Michel Foucault analyzes the emergence of disciplinary practices

In Discipline & Punish, Michel Foucault analyzes the emergence of disciplinary practices, as they are understood in modern schools, militaries, and prisons. Foucault understands the manifestations of modern disciplines in terms of a power-knowledge relationship. In Discipline & Punish he makes a change in his method of thinking about power-knowledge relations in using a genealogical method. The basic premise of the genealogical approach is that shifts of power in society alter the way knowledge is formed in society. Foucault's specific focus in the genealogical framework will be on the interrelation of non-discursive practices (control of bodies) and discursive practices (bodies of knowledge). In focusing on bodies of knowledge and the controlling of bodies Foucault shows how the greatest difference in the Modern Age of disciplines and the Classical Age is that Modern society is engulfed in disciplinary practices. Foucault believes that there is a misunderstanding by scholars when studying the history of discipline and punishment in the West. The misunderstanding is thinking that there is a progress in the way we treat criminals, or deviants, in compared with the forms of punishment used in the Classical Age. In order to view this misunderstanding Foucault begins Discipline & Punish with a horrific example of public torture that was commonplace treatment of a criminal in the Classical Age, which immediately provokes the reader to feel that the Modern Age has accomplished definite ‘progress'. However, Foucault claims that ‘progress' from a humanist perspective in relation to Modern discipline and punishment would not be accurate but, ‘progress' in being able to perform punishment with the same intensity of the Classical Age and not get the negative reaction that people had towards the public torture is a more accurate picture. Foucault claims that Modern societies aim has been â€Å"not to punish less, but to punish better. † The best model of â€Å"punishing better† has taken place in the Modern Prison. In the Prison the Modern Age changed its aims in punishing the criminal and these aims have carried over into the many disciplines of society. Foucault defines some of those differences in Modern discipline practices that culminate in the prison, but are unlimited in their reach upon society. The first difference is the object of control is no longer focused on the mind, but is more concerned with the body. An example of this is the vast apparatus of the Modern Prison that maintains a cell for each inmate to be placed. The Modern Prison is obsessed with the location of the body, rather than the earlier disciplinary techniques in which the foremost concern was one's ideas. This modern obsession with controlling the body in the Modern Prison is also present in the military apparatus. For example, the barracks or bases are developed to locate the troops in a specific location and keep them from mixing with the outside population. The earlier days when one was called from his house to go out to battle is eradicated by making soldiers subject to a specific location. The second area of development in Modern disciplinary practices is the control of details of specific bodily movements. The control of details of specific bodily movements is most clearly exemplified in the example of the Panopticon that Foucault gives in Discipline & Punish. One of the main characteristics of the Panopticon was to be able to constantly supervise the movements of each prisoner. The goal was to supervise the prisoner, while not allowing the prisoner to see the supervisor. This resulted in the prisoner constantly being aware of each little movement he made because there was always the possibility of being watched. The spread of the form of control of detail into other disciplinary institutions is easily seen in the school when teachers become concerned with the way in which they're students write or their posture in the classroom. The schoolmaster is no longer as concerned with the fact that the student can read and write, as he is with the way in which the pupils perform their task. The third object of focus by modern disciplines that Foucault suggests is new in the Modern Age is the concern with the process of production rather than just the product itself. The goal in the third mechanism is to exercise control over the complete production of an act instead of just the result of the act. The Modern Prison exemplifies this when it keeps a record of the prisoner's movements or affect. The fact that the prisoner does not break the rules is secondary too the way he goes about not breaking the rules. The control of processes is easily seen in the Modern economy. The Modern wage laborer is prescribed a code of ethics, timetable, and a contract. All of the later are mechanisms that concern the production of the product rather than the product itself. It does not matter if one is able to produce a product if does not fit within the proscribed process. The result of the control of the body, the details of bodily movements, and the process of production is â€Å"the docile body. † In order to achieve the function of rendering â€Å"the docile body† the Modern Age has developed distinctive mechanisms. The first of the mechanism's that Foucault mentions that are put in place to achieve a â€Å"docile body† is the Hierarchal Observations. Foucault locates the model of this method in the Bentham's ‘Panopticon. ‘ The ‘Panopticon' has a tower to be located in the middle of transparent cells, which form around the tower itself. The supervisor is to be able to see any prisoner at any time without the prisoner being aware that they are being watched. Foucault claims this gives the body a specific space of ‘subjection' and makes the prisoner constantly aware of there position. The ‘Panopticon' represents a change from the Classical Age of placing prisoners in dark dungeons and makes use of the light of a constant gaze. The hospital is an example of how the mechanism of the Hierarchal Observation spreads from the prison model into other social spaces. Foucault talks about the care that went into the new architecture of the hospital that allowed for the patients to be easily viewed, it separated them from other patients, and had a separate ventilation system that was organized for each patient to avoid the spread of germs. The hospital was no longer the overseer of death, but a whole apparatus of ‘therapeutic' mechanisms. In both the Modern Prison and the hospital, the body and its movements became the target rather than the mind. The mechanism of Hierarchal Observation lays the grounding for Normalizing Judgment, which is another distinctive mechanism of the Modern Age. The mechanism of Normalizing Judgment is to be able to focus in on the errors of a given behavior in order to reform the behavior. The process of Normalizing Judgment allows for codes to be established that can be placed next to the Law and Tradition. The emergence of Normalizing Judgment could be seen in the Modern Prison when the prisoners are subjected to a rigid schedule of prayer, exercise, and education. The prisoner was to stay within the ‘norms' or be judged. The Classical Age was concerned with revenge of the victim, whereas the Modern Age is concerned specifically with the criminal as a deviant or abnormal person. Foucault recognizes the spread of Normalizing Judgment in the rise of the standardized education. Examples of standardized education would be medical schools or law schools. These schools established the general norms of health and law. Thus, if someone deviates from â€Å"the norm† they subject themselves to space where it is appropriate for one to visit the psychologist to get help and on to the many other possible reformist mechanism. The mechanism of Normalizing Judgment enables the framework for the third mechanism, the Examination, to be developed. The Examination is a type of combination of the latter two mechanisms into what Foucault calls â€Å"the normalizing gaze. † This can be seen in the prison as when the prisoner is aware of being visible and â€Å"the norms† simultaneously. It is as if one knows how they ‘should' act and that they will be constantly held accountable through observation. The school examination is a further elaboration of this technique used in the prison. The student is constantly checked to make sure they are in order with â€Å"the norm† by a written or oral examination. The function of the school examination provides the exact same function of the prison examination, but in a new social space. The mechanisms of the Hierarchal Observation, Normalizing Judgment, and Examination ensure that â€Å"the docile body† is achieved. The mechanisms of docility are present throughout the entire stratum of society. Although the Modern disciplinary practices developed in the isolated space of the prison they have spread throughout society into schools, hospitals, factories, courts, and various other spaces. These disciplinary practiced do not just locate the normal form of behavior, but also act as a positive force of knowledge. The mechanisms achieve â€Å"the docile body† that allow for the coding of the individual of any given knowledge. A clue to just how vast disciplinary practices are in the Modern Age is the disappearance of â€Å"the outlaw,† which is now taken up with â€Å"the deviant. † There is no way to get ‘out'side the law, but one remains in a deviant form that is located within the disciplinary space. There is no escaping the mechanisms of power throughout society, as mechanisms of power-knowledge will continue to flourish in many different transformations. However, by not mistaking these transformations as necessary for ‘progress' and getting the mechanism to operate in your favor, one can achieve real progress.

Free Essays on Soldiers Home

Soldier's Home Many of the titles of Ernest Hemingway's stories are ironic, and can be read on a number of levels; Soldier's Home is no exception. Our first impression, having read the title only, is that this story will be about a old soldier living out the remainder of his life in an institution where veterans go to die. We soon find out that the story has nothing to do with the elderly, or institutions; rather, it tells the story of a young man, Harold Krebs, only recently returned from World War I, who has moved back into his parents' house while he figures out what he wants to do with the rest of his life. And yet our first impression lingers, and with good reason; despite the fact that his parents' comfortable, middle-class lifestyle used to feel like home to Harold Krebs, it no longer does. Harold is not home; he has no home at all. This is actually not an uncommon scenario among young people (such as college students) returning into the womb of their childhood again. But with Harold,! the situation is more dramatic because he has not only lived on his own, but has dealt with and been traumatized by life-and-death situations his parents could not possibly understand. Hemingway does not divulge why Krebs was the last person in his home town to return home from the war; according to the Kansas City Star, Hemingway himself "left Kansas City in the spring of 1918 and did not return for 10 years, [becoming] 'the first of 132 former Star employees to be wounded in World War I,' according to a Star article at the time of his death" (Kansas City Star, hem6.htm). Wherever he was in the intervening time, by the time Harold gets home, the novelty of the returning soldier has long since worn off. All the other former soldiers have found a niche for themselves in the community, but Harold needs a while longer to get his bearings; he plays pool, "practiced on his clarinet, strolled down town, read, and went to bed" (Hemingway, 146... Of Mice And Men by John SteinbeckYou will need to develop an Research Paper

Of Mice And Men by John SteinbeckYou will need to develop an argumentative thesis statement based on the idea of The American - Research Paper Example Crooks, also desiring not to be left alone on the ranch, wants to join their dream of independence. Curly’s wife, before she dies, confesses her dream to be a movie star. In fact, the only characters that do not admit to such a dream are those who stand atop the social and economic hierarchy. Curly, for instance, enjoys his place of power and represents a repressive force in the story insofar as he suppresses and controls the dreams of others. These are dreams of independence that reflect the concept of the American dream generally; however, at least from Of Mice and Men, the reader comes to realize that such dreams are economic, and spiritual, impossibilities. The impossibility of the stereotypical American dream is only strengthened by the overarching economic climate in which the men live. As Crooks tells George, â€Å"Nobody never gets to heaven, and nobody gets no land† (Steinbeck 74). What Crooks says here is particular interesting because it indicates that men ar e both economically and spiritually deprived of what they truly need. While George and Lennie are seeking the seemingly simple goal of acquiring their own land and independence, Crooks’ observation is that such land would provide more than substance and bodily satisfaction.

Critically discuss the relevance of the ownership structure of a firm Coursework

Critically discuss the relevance of the ownership structure of a firm and examine how this impacts on both the short-term and long-term strategies that are employed by business - Coursework Example At several instances, it is noted that the ownership structure of a firm has been affecting its steady growth and development at large. Moreover, the ownership structure of the firm is observed to function by developing the image and enhance the strategic development of the firm in both short and long terms (Jensen & Meckling, 1976). With this regard, the paper intends to elaborate on the relevance of the ownership structure followed in The Lego Group. The Lego Group is a private sector company founded in the year 1932. In accordance with its vision, the company’s business was majorly engaged in the development of the children’s cognitive skills through playing. The company has developed its image as a global enterprise over the tenure of 80 years and has developed itself, on of the leading manufacturer of toy in the world (1The LEGO Group, 2014). To develop a better understanding about the ownership structure of the company, a detailed analysis of its provisions and performances have been conducted in the following sections. Ownership structure provides a framework for the process of control and helps in developing a system of management of the firm. Ownership structure is therefore defined as the equity structure that depicts the holding rights of a company. This structure further defines the authority that a particular person has on an organisation. Moreover, the ownership structure depicts managerial abilities to control the different operations of the management and enhance the system overall, to suffice the changing needs of the contemporary business environment and adjust with the same, maintaining efficiency. Contextually, the ownership structure helps in identifying the corporate governance and in developing guidelines that in turn tends to shape the internal climate of the company influencing the investors’ confidence level as well as ensuring transparency in

Business Ethics Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Business Ethics - Research Paper Example Ethics can be written or unwritten depending with the extent of the interaction between parties. Some of the written ethics that a person must follow are contracts and warning signs such as this is a non smoking zone. Failure to follow such regulations may have negative effects to the other parties (Howie, 1987, p.17). Business ethics are moral principles that guide business people to earn their profits without having to infringe losses or doing harm to the other party. Some of the major principles include principle of common good, principle of beneficence, principle of respect of autonomy etc. These principles guide the interaction between two parties by putting boundaries and outlining the expected behavior by those individuals when transacting their activities. If not followed, the other parties might suffer. One of example where ethics are not followed in doing business is tarnishing the name and products of the competitor in order to increase the size of the target customers. Bu siness is therefore expected to compete in a neutral ground without doing any harm to each other (Howie, 1987). Importance of business ethics One of the major importances of business ethics is ensuring that there is a good coexistence between business personnel or corporations. The main aim of any business is to make profits. As a result, some business goes to an extra mile of using unethical means to ensure that they eliminate the competitors in order to increase their profit margin. One of the examples of unethical behavior is a business person purchasing all the products of the competitor in the market in order to reduce customer loyalty towards the products of the competitor. When ethical principles are keenly followed, businesses are able to exist peacefully without any of them doing harm to the other (Brooks, Dunn, 2009, pp. 66). Business ethics improves customer loyalty towards the products or services. Currently, customers are very keen on what they are consuming and the sou rce of the product. As a result, they keep on monitoring the ethical standards of their preferred company or businesses. If the business acts unethically be it through its transaction or even employees being unethical this may have an adverse repercussion. This tarnishes the image of the company/business, an aspect that reduces trust of the customers towards the product. This behavior may result to reduced revenue of which can lead to collapsing of the business. This case can also give the competitors a competitive advantage as they can use unethical behavior by the business to lure customers to purchase their products (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2009, p. 79). Business ethics improves customer relation. Moral conduct of a business plays a greater role in attracting customers to the business (Kline, 2010, p. 39). Customers like to be associated with a business that has a clean reputation. Poor moral values by the business distance the customers from the business. Therefore, employe es hold a very important part in enhancing customer relations. Business ethics increases brand equity. Brand equity is the public valuation of business’ brand name. The brand name attracts investors towards the business. This increase capital that the business holds therefore enabling the business to compete effectively in the market. This capital is also used in diversification of the company operations therefore enabli
